Provenance

Why this one made the wall

In 1926 Martin switched its finishing over to lacquer, and the Concert-sized all-koa models were among the first guitars to be sprayed with it. A hundred years on, the Custom Shop 0-18K2 CFM IV is built in the image of those guitars, and Martin made 100 of them.

It's a 0 body joined at the 12th fret, in solid flamed koa top, back and sides, with a koa headplate to match. The Vintage Gloss finish is closely based on that original 1926 lacquer. Underneath, hand-shaped GE scalloped X-bracing.

The neck is a GE Modified Low Oval with Martin's High-Performance Taper, 1 3/4" at the nut on a 24.9" scale, set with a dovetail joint. Ebony fingerboard with abalone Old Style 18 inlays, ebony bridge, bone nut and saddle, and Golden Age Relic Brass tuners on a slotted headstock wearing the Martin O'ahu script.

Each one carries a "100 Years of Lacquer" paper label with Chris Martin IV's printed signature, numbered out of 100. Ships in a Martin hardshell case.

Frequently asked

Questions we get

Do I pay duty or brokerage on a US order?

No. Duty, taxes, brokerage and customs on a US order are handled at our end before the instrument leaves Ottawa. It arrives at your door with nothing to pay.

Orders going anywhere outside Canada and the United States work differently. The shipping and returns policy sets out which is which.

What does the free setup cover?

Every instrument crosses Ian Vance's bench before it ships, and on an online order that setup is free.

What it covers depends on what the guitar needs. Frets, fretboard, hardware, fresh strings, truss rod, action, nut slots, intonation, pickup height and electronics are all part of it, and none of it is an upcharge. The menu above shows the choices you get to make.

Ian's work is described on Repairs and tuning.

What if it is not right when it arrives?

You have 48 hours from the moment it arrives to decide. Email shop@lauzonmusic.com inside that window and we will authorize the return. Nothing comes back unauthorized.

Exchange it for something else and there is no restocking fee, though you cover the shipping on the instrument going back. On a straight refund it is 10% plus the actual shipping both ways.

The full terms are on Shipping and returns.

Can I pay for it over time?

Canadian buyers can pay over time with PayPlan by RBC, chosen as the payment method at checkout. The exact terms come from RBC and are shown to you before you agree to anything.

Financing never changes the price of the guitar. More on Financing.
