Our take

Who this one is for

The OM-28 is Martin's 000 body on the longer 25.4" scale, with East Indian rosewood back and sides, a spruce top and Golden Era Scalloped X bracing. Bold herringbone runs around the top, with a Style 28 multi-stripe rosette, abalone diamonds and squares on an ebony board, and a bone nut and compensated bone saddle. The neck is the Golden Era (GE) Modified Low Oval with the High-Performance Taper, 1 3/4" at the nut.

It suits a fingerstyle player who wants rosewood and herringbone in a body smaller than a dreadnought. Martin credits the long scale with extra projection and clarity. For the same body and woods on the 24.9" scale, look at the 000-28, and for a rosewood dreadnought with herringbone, the HD-28. The OM-28E is this guitar with a Fishman Aura VT Blend.

All three finishes are gloss and built the same way: the standard top in Aging Toner, the Gloss 1933 Ambertone, and the Gloss 1935 Sunburst. Ours would be the 1933 Ambertone, which takes the top a shade warmer and still leaves the grain and the herringbone in plain view.

Questions we get

How much do I pay today?

Your choice: the full price, or a 25% deposit. On a deposit, the balance is due when the guitar reaches the shop, before it ships to you. A deposit is paid by card or PayPal. Shop Pay, Apple Pay and Google Pay can't take one.

When will it arrive?

It varies by product, anywhere from two weeks up to several months. If you'd like a date for this model first, ask us in the chat and we'll check with the supplier before you order. If you're ready now, go ahead: we confirm the ETA by email once your order is in, and if it changes, we let you know and you can cancel.

Can I cancel?

Yes, any time before the supplier invoices it and ships it to us. We refund what you paid less 3% to cover the card processing fee.

Once it has shipped to us it is a special order and final sale. If it arrives with something wrong, we put that right.

What if the price goes up before it arrives?

You pay the price you ordered at. Once your order is placed we hold that price, even if the supplier raises it before the guitar arrives.

Is the free setup included?

Yes. A pre-order is an online order, so it gets the same free setup: it crosses our bench before it ships, set up the way you choose. The setup menu above shows what that covers.

Do I pay duty or brokerage on a US order?

No. Duty, taxes, brokerage and customs on a US order are handled at our end before the instrument leaves Ottawa. It arrives at your door with nothing to pay.

Orders going anywhere outside Canada and the United States work differently. The shipping and returns policy sets out which is which.

Can I finance it?

Yes, if you are in Canada and paying in full. Pick PayPlan by RBC or Shop Pay Installments as your payment method at checkout. The plan, the rate and the approval sit with the provider, and you see the terms before you agree to anything. You pay a deposit by card or PayPal.
