The A-Type Select is the A-Type with a figured maple top under translucent colour. Underneath it's the same guitar: a trussed hollow body in urban ash that stays light and keeps feedback down, a one-piece mahogany neck with 21 jumbo frets on an asymmetrical radius, and a 24-7/8" scale.
The finishes come in two kinds. Ghost Flame colours sit on a transparent flame top with solid-colour back and sides. The Premium colours, Pale Ale, Solana Sunset and Chroma Silver Cranberry here, are a gloss flame top over a satin black back and sides. We've had a Chroma Silver Cranberry Select through the shop. It's a colour-shift finish, so it changes as the guitar turns under the lights.
Pickups are the same choice as the A-Type. The FF42 (Full Faraday) set is warm and hi-fi, and the PF42 (Partial Faraday) set is brighter and punchier. Most of the Selects we've ordered went out with FF42s and the CamTail vibrato. Quilt and birdseye tops, a thin hand-rubbed finish and a dark Honduran rosewood fingerboard are extra-cost options. If you want a solid colour instead, look at the A-Type.
Every Select is built to order. After you order, we confirm the rest of the build with you: tailpiece, pickups, saddles, plating, pickguard and knobs. Pricing may change depending on the options chosen. No two flame tops are alike, so the photos show one example and the top on yours will have its own figure. The supplier's colour list is longer than what's here, so if yours is missing, ask us.
