The Classic J Antique is Suhr's 1960s-style J bass with a lightly aged nitro-cellulose lacquer finish on both the alder body and the neck. On the body, Suhr's light aging includes finish checking and light dings, and the maple neck is extra tinted.
Underneath the finish it matches the Classic J: an asymmetrical body with a tortoise pickguard, a slim Vintage J neck at .810" to .930" with a 1.5" nut, an Indian rosewood board on a 7.25" radius and heavy stainless frets, which wear slowly. Two Suhr Classic J Vintage pickups with Alnico 5 magnets, a Gotoh Vintage Jazz Bridge and Hipshot tuners complete it.
Choose the Classic J if you'd rather start without the aging. The Classic P has one Classic P Vintage pickup, a roasted maple neck and a 1.720" nut. Among 3 Tone Burst, Black and Olympic White, we'd pick 3 Tone Burst, where the checking and dings suit a sunburst.
