Our take

Who this one is for

Hombre is Suhr's take on the Brownface circuit: a 1x12 combo with Normal and Bright channels, each with Volume and Tone only, two 6V6s for about 18 watts and a 5AR4 rectifier. The transformers are custom made in the USA on paper bobbins, and the component layout was reworked to keep noise down.

The tremolo modulates the power tubes' bias, and its depth moves with your playing. It sits back when the amp is pushed or you hit harder, and comes forward as the note decays. A single-button footswitch for it is in the box, and there is no standby switch to manage.

The cabinet is box-jointed pine with a floating baffle, in Vintage Palomino Nubtex with Tan/Brown Wheat grill cloth, carrying a 12" Celestion V-Type, at 33lbs all in. The Hombre Head is the same amp at 18.6lbs, with the Hombre 2x12 Cabinet as its partner. The combo is the one we would point most players to, since it is the whole amp in one light piece.

Questions we get

How much do I pay today?

Your choice: the full price, or a 25% deposit. On a deposit, the balance is due when the guitar reaches the shop, before it ships to you. A deposit is paid by card or PayPal. Shop Pay, Apple Pay and Google Pay can't take one.

When will it arrive?

It varies by product, anywhere from two weeks up to several months. If you'd like a date for this model first, ask us in the chat and we'll check with the supplier before you order. If you're ready now, go ahead: we confirm the ETA by email once your order is in, and if it changes, we let you know and you can cancel.

Can I cancel?

Yes, any time before the supplier invoices it and ships it to us. We refund what you paid less 3% to cover the card processing fee.

Once it has shipped to us it is a special order and final sale. If it arrives with something wrong, we put that right.

What if the price goes up before it arrives?

You pay the price you ordered at. Once your order is placed we hold that price, even if the supplier raises it before the guitar arrives.

Is the free setup included?

Yes. A pre-order is an online order, so it gets the same free setup: it crosses our bench before it ships, set up the way you choose. The setup menu above shows what that covers.

Do I pay duty or brokerage on a US order?

No. Duty, taxes, brokerage and customs on a US order are handled at our end before the instrument leaves Ottawa. It arrives at your door with nothing to pay.

Orders going anywhere outside Canada and the United States work differently. The shipping and returns policy sets out which is which.

Can I finance it?

Yes, if you are in Canada and paying in full. Pick PayPlan by RBC or Shop Pay Installments as your payment method at checkout. The plan, the rate and the approval sit with the provider, and you see the terms before you agree to anything. You pay a deposit by card or PayPal.
