Our take

Who this one is for

The Reactive Load I.R. is Suhr's reactive load with impulse response technology built in. The same reactive load circuit takes the place of the speaker cabinet, and the unit comes loaded with 16 impulse responses of Suhr cabinets captured by Celestion, covering the Badger, Bella, Hedgehog, PT and 4x12 cabinets. It is an open system, so third-party IRs load over USB.

Two outputs run at once: one through the selected IR and one unfiltered and dry, which lets an engineer record both and decide in the mix. Live, the IR output goes to front of house with no microphone and no bleed. For quiet practice, plug in headphones and a phone or other source on the aux input and play a tube amp along with backing tracks, no DAW needed. Signal Boost adds 6dB for low-wattage amps, and Hi-Cut adjusts the impedance curve when slaving an amp. When a cabinet is plugged into the Thru jack the internal load is disabled, so that jack must always lead to a load.

If you already have an IR library and a rig to run it, the Reactive Load is the load on its own.

Questions we get

How much do I pay today?

Your choice: the full price, or a 25% deposit. On a deposit, the balance is due when the guitar reaches the shop, before it ships to you. A deposit is paid by card or PayPal. Shop Pay, Apple Pay and Google Pay can't take one.

When will it arrive?

It varies by product, anywhere from two weeks up to several months. If you'd like a date for this model first, ask us in the chat and we'll check with the supplier before you order. If you're ready now, go ahead: we confirm the ETA by email once your order is in, and if it changes, we let you know and you can cancel.

Can I cancel?

Yes, any time before the supplier invoices it and ships it to us. We refund what you paid less 3% to cover the card processing fee.

Once it has shipped to us it is a special order and final sale. If it arrives with something wrong, we put that right.

What if the price goes up before it arrives?

You pay the price you ordered at. Once your order is placed we hold that price, even if the supplier raises it before the guitar arrives.

Is the free setup included?

Yes. A pre-order is an online order, so it gets the same free setup: it crosses our bench before it ships, set up the way you choose. The setup menu above shows what that covers.

Do I pay duty or brokerage on a US order?

No. Duty, taxes, brokerage and customs on a US order are handled at our end before the instrument leaves Ottawa. It arrives at your door with nothing to pay.

Orders going anywhere outside Canada and the United States work differently. The shipping and returns policy sets out which is which.

Can I finance it?

Yes, if you are in Canada and paying in full. Pick PayPlan by RBC or Shop Pay Installments as your payment method at checkout. The plan, the rate and the approval sit with the provider, and you see the terms before you agree to anything. You pay a deposit by card or PayPal.
