The Rufus is a fuzz with a footswitchable octave-up. Its range runs from the fuzz sounds of the Fillmore East in '69 to the more aggressive, mid-scooped character of the grunge years, and Suhr worked on the octave so it tracks evenly across every pickup selection and the whole fingerboard. This version uses the Rufus Reloaded circuit and tone.
A full 3-band EQ shapes the fuzz, and Suhr built it to work on bass as well as guitar without losing the bottom end. Holding the footswitch moves between Normal and Octave modes through Suhr's mf(x) switching, and the pedal remembers the mode you left it in. Bypass is true bypass through a relay, and the FX Link jack lets a switcher call up either mode.
For fuzz and octave fuzz on two independent sides, each with its own tone control and MIDI channel switching, compare the Thornicus Fuzz Ian Thornley Signature.
