Our take

Who this one is for

The Standard Plus is built on Suhr's Standard body, a slightly smaller version of the Classic shape with sharper edges and longer horns. Here it's basswood under a flame maple top, finished in gloss with scraped binding, a white pearl pickguard and the input jack on the side.

The roasted maple neck is the Even C Slim, .800" to .880" with a 1.650" nut, in a satin finish on a 10" to 14" compound radius with heavy stainless frets. An SSH+ humbucker sits at the bridge with two V60 single coils, and Suhr's SSCII system takes the 60 cycle hum out of the single coils without needing a battery.

Its closest relative in the run is the Modern Plus, which has the asymmetrical Modern body, a Modern Elliptical neck, jumbo frets and humbuckers at both ends. The Standard Plus is the one for single coils in the neck and middle and a slightly lower fret. Each finish comes with a roasted maple or pau ferro board; with the white pearl guard we'd pick roasted maple on Bahama Blue or Trans Honey Amber Burst.

Questions we get

How much do I pay today?

Your choice: the full price, or a 25% deposit. On a deposit, the balance is due when the guitar reaches the shop, before it ships to you. A deposit is paid by card or PayPal. Shop Pay, Apple Pay and Google Pay can't take one.

When will it arrive?

It varies by product, anywhere from two weeks up to several months. If you'd like a date for this model first, ask us in the chat and we'll check with the supplier before you order. If you're ready now, go ahead: we confirm the ETA by email once your order is in, and if it changes, we let you know and you can cancel.

Can I cancel?

Yes, any time before the supplier invoices it and ships it to us. We refund what you paid less 3% to cover the card processing fee.

Once it has shipped to us it is a special order and final sale. If it arrives with something wrong, we put that right.

What if the price goes up before it arrives?

You pay the price you ordered at. Once your order is placed we hold that price, even if the supplier raises it before the guitar arrives.

Is the free setup included?

Yes. A pre-order is an online order, so it gets the same free setup: it crosses our bench before it ships, set up the way you choose. The setup menu above shows what that covers.

Do I pay duty or brokerage on a US order?

No. Duty, taxes, brokerage and customs on a US order are handled at our end before the instrument leaves Ottawa. It arrives at your door with nothing to pay.

Orders going anywhere outside Canada and the United States work differently. The shipping and returns policy sets out which is which.

Can I finance it?

Yes, if you are in Canada and paying in full. Pick PayPlan by RBC or Shop Pay Installments as your payment method at checkout. The plan, the rate and the approval sit with the provider, and you see the terms before you agree to anything. You pay a deposit by card or PayPal.
