The Black Cat 30 was one of the amps Mark Sampson chose to revisit when he came back to Bad Cat in 2024, and the Mod Shop version is his rework of it: a new tone stack and a new 30-watt power supply. It's the first release from the Bad Cat Mod Shop, built in small numbers in Southern California, and his signature is on the back panel.
Four EL84s give it the chime and compression of a classic 30-watt British amp, and twice the power of the Cub. Two channels each get their own gain and volume, sharing Bass, Treble and a Cut control. Reverb and bias-modulated tremolo are built in, and the two-button footswitch handles channel and tremolo.
This is the Black Cat for someone who already has a cab or wants to run it through a 2x12. The outputs cover 4, 8 and 16 ohms plus 2x4 and 2x8, and there's a buffered loop and a line out. If you want it all in one box, the Mod Shop Black Cat 30 combo is the same amp.
