The Cub is the circuit Bad Cat started with in 1999, Mark Sampson's take on a 15-watt British amp from the sixties with more muscle. The Mod Shop Cub 15 revisits it with revoiced mids and a tighter low end. It's a single-channel head running two EL84s, and it's very touch-sensitive: pick lightly and it stays clean, dig in and it breaks up.
A Clean/Overdrive gain selector and two switchable master volumes give you two sounds from the one channel, both on the included footswitch. Bass, Middle, Treble and a global Presence shape it. In Lo mode a single-coil gets glassy American-style cleans; push it with a Les Paul and it moves into punchy classic-rock rhythm. There's plenty of headroom for a pedalboard and enough gain on its own for a minimal rig.
Reverb, a buffered loop and a line out are all on board, and the speaker outputs cover 4, 8 and 16 ohms plus 2x4 and 2x8, so it pairs with whatever cab you already own. If you'd rather have the speaker in the box, the Cub 15 combo is the same amp with a UK-made Greenback.
