Our take

Who this one is for

The American Professional Classic Stratocaster takes a fifties-voiced set of pickups and puts them on a modern neck. Three Coastline '57 Single-Coil Stratocaster pickups, the middle one RWRP, run through a 5-way blade with a master volume, one tone for the neck and middle, and a second tone for the bridge. That bridge tone is the Greasebucket circuit, which rolls off highs without adding bass, handy for taking the bite off the bridge pickup.

The Modern "C" neck has a 9.5" radius and Medium Jumbo frets, comfortable for chords and easy on bends. There's a 6-saddle vintage-style synchronized tremolo, staggered ClassicGear tuners and an alder body.

For a period-correct build, look at the American Vintage II 1957 Stratocaster. For a compound radius, noiseless pickups and locking tuners, the American Ultra II Stratocaster. There's also an HSS version, and a limited run with the Silent System for hum.

Faded Firemist Gold, Faded Lake Placid Blue and 3-Color Sunburst come with a maple board, Faded Black, Faded Dakota Red and Faded Sherwood Green Metallic with rosewood.

Questions we get

How much do I pay today?

Your choice: the full price, or a 25% deposit. On a deposit, the balance is due when the guitar reaches the shop, before it ships to you.

When will it arrive?

It varies by product, anywhere from two weeks up to several months. After you order, we check with the supplier and email you an ETA. If it changes, we let you know, and you can cancel.

Want an estimate for this model before you order? Ask us in the chat.

Can I cancel?

Yes, any time before the supplier invoices it and ships it to us. We refund what you paid less 3% to cover the card processing fee.

Once it has shipped to us it is a special order and final sale. If it arrives with something wrong, we put that right.

What if the price goes up before it arrives?

You pay the price you ordered at. Once your order is placed we hold that price, even if the supplier raises it before the guitar arrives.

Is the free setup included?

Yes. A pre-order is an online order, so it gets the same free setup: it crosses Ian Vance's bench before it ships, set up the way you choose. The setup menu above shows what that covers.

Do I pay duty or brokerage on a US order?

No. Duty, taxes, brokerage and customs on a US order are handled at our end before the instrument leaves Ottawa. It arrives at your door with nothing to pay.

Orders going anywhere outside Canada and the United States work differently. The shipping and returns policy sets out which is which.

Can I finance it?

Yes, if you are in Canada and paying in full. Pick PayPlan by RBC or Shop Pay Installments as your payment method at checkout. The plan, the rate and the approval sit with the provider, and you see the terms before you agree to anything. You pay a deposit by card or PayPal.
