Our take

Who this one is for

The American Ultra II Meteora puts two Haymaker Humbuckers in the offset Meteora body, with a 6-saddle strings-through-body hardtail and polished stainless steel block saddles. No tremolo, so tuning stays put and string changes are quick, helped by locking tuners with short posts.

The controls go further than a 3-way toggle and master volume. There's a tone knob, a separate bass cut, and an S-1 switch on the volume that splits the Haymakers to single-coil. The quartersawn maple neck has the flatter Modern "D" profile on a 25.5" scale, with a 10" to 14" compound radius that is rounder near the nut for chords and flatter up high so bends don't fret out. Rolled edges, Luminlay side dots, a Graph Tech TUSQ nut, and Ultra contours with a sculpted heel for the upper frets. It comes strung with .009-.046s.

For a Haymaker in the bridge with single-coils and a tremolo, look at the American Ultra II Stratocaster HSS. For the same series with single-coils and a hardtail, the American Ultra II Telecaster.

Texas Tea and Ultraburst come with an ebony board, Avalanche with quartersawn maple.

Questions we get

How much do I pay today?

Your choice: the full price, or a 25% deposit. On a deposit, the balance is due when the guitar reaches the shop, before it ships to you.

When will it arrive?

It varies by product, anywhere from two weeks up to several months. After you order, we check with the supplier and email you an ETA. If it changes, we let you know, and you can cancel.

Want an estimate for this model before you order? Ask us in the chat.

Can I cancel?

Yes, any time before the supplier invoices it and ships it to us. We refund what you paid less 3% to cover the card processing fee.

Once it has shipped to us it is a special order and final sale. If it arrives with something wrong, we put that right.

What if the price goes up before it arrives?

You pay the price you ordered at. Once your order is placed we hold that price, even if the supplier raises it before the guitar arrives.

Is the free setup included?

Yes. A pre-order is an online order, so it gets the same free setup: it crosses Ian Vance's bench before it ships, set up the way you choose. The setup menu above shows what that covers.

Do I pay duty or brokerage on a US order?

No. Duty, taxes, brokerage and customs on a US order are handled at our end before the instrument leaves Ottawa. It arrives at your door with nothing to pay.

Orders going anywhere outside Canada and the United States work differently. The shipping and returns policy sets out which is which.

Can I finance it?

Yes, if you are in Canada and paying in full. Pick PayPlan by RBC or Shop Pay Installments as your payment method at checkout. The plan, the rate and the approval sit with the provider, and you see the terms before you agree to anything. You pay a deposit by card or PayPal.
