Our take

Who this one is for

The American Ultra II Telecaster uses two Ultra II Noiseless Vintage Tele pickups, so the Tele sound comes without single-coil hum. The S-1 switch on the volume wires the pickups in series in any position, bypassing the 3-position blade, for a thicker, louder sound than the standard settings.

In place of the three-barrel Tele bridge, there's a 6-saddle strings-through-body hardtail with chromed brass saddles, so each string intonates on its own. The quartersawn maple neck has the flatter Modern "D" profile and a 10" to 14" compound radius, rounder near the nut for chords and flatter up high so bends don't fret out. Rolled edges, Luminlay side dots, a Graph Tech TUSQ nut, Ultra contours with a sculpted heel, and locking short-post tuners.

For a vintage-style Tele with brass barrel saddles and a 9.5" radius, look at the American Professional Classic Telecaster. For period looks with modern playability, the American Ultra Luxe Vintage 50s Telecaster.

Avalanche, Sinister Red and Ultraburst come with a quartersawn maple board, Solar Flare and Texas Tea with ebony.

Questions we get

How much do I pay today?

Your choice: the full price, or a 25% deposit. On a deposit, the balance is due when the guitar reaches the shop, before it ships to you.

When will it arrive?

It varies by product, anywhere from two weeks up to several months. After you order, we check with the supplier and email you an ETA. If it changes, we let you know, and you can cancel.

Want an estimate for this model before you order? Ask us in the chat.

Can I cancel?

Yes, any time before the supplier invoices it and ships it to us. We refund what you paid less 3% to cover the card processing fee.

Once it has shipped to us it is a special order and final sale. If it arrives with something wrong, we put that right.

What if the price goes up before it arrives?

You pay the price you ordered at. Once your order is placed we hold that price, even if the supplier raises it before the guitar arrives.

Is the free setup included?

Yes. A pre-order is an online order, so it gets the same free setup: it crosses Ian Vance's bench before it ships, set up the way you choose. The setup menu above shows what that covers.

Do I pay duty or brokerage on a US order?

No. Duty, taxes, brokerage and customs on a US order are handled at our end before the instrument leaves Ottawa. It arrives at your door with nothing to pay.

Orders going anywhere outside Canada and the United States work differently. The shipping and returns policy sets out which is which.

Can I finance it?

Yes, if you are in Canada and paying in full. Pick PayPlan by RBC or Shop Pay Installments as your payment method at checkout. The plan, the rate and the approval sit with the provider, and you see the terms before you agree to anything. You pay a deposit by card or PayPal.
