Our take

Who this one is for

The Jazzmaster was meant to win over jazz players and found its people in surf, then indie and alternative rock. This 1966 version has the mid '60s look: a bound round-laminated rosewood board with pearloid blocks, a matching painted headstock on the custom colours, and an alder body under nitrocellulose lacquer.

Two Pure Vintage '66 Jazzmaster single-coils run through the original dual circuits. In lead mode you get the 3-way toggle with master volume and tone. Flip the slide switch to rhythm and the neck pickup runs on its own thumbwheel volume and tone, so you can set a separate rhythm sound and switch to it. The floating tremolo pairs with a vintage Jazzmaster bridge with threaded barrel saddles. The 1966 "C" neck has a 7.25" radius and vintage tall frets.

The Limited Edition American Vintage II 1966 Jazzmaster is a variation on the same guitar, and the American Professional Classic Jazzmaster is the modern take. Offered in 3-Color Sunburst, Lake Placid Blue and Sherwood Green Metallic.

Questions we get

How much do I pay today?

Your choice: the full price, or a 25% deposit. On a deposit, the balance is due when the guitar reaches the shop, before it ships to you.

When will it arrive?

It varies by product, anywhere from two weeks up to several months. After you order, we check with the supplier and email you an ETA. If it changes, we let you know, and you can cancel.

Want an estimate for this model before you order? Ask us in the chat.

Can I cancel?

Yes, any time before the supplier invoices it and ships it to us. We refund what you paid less 3% to cover the card processing fee.

Once it has shipped to us it is a special order and final sale. If it arrives with something wrong, we put that right.

What if the price goes up before it arrives?

You pay the price you ordered at. Once your order is placed we hold that price, even if the supplier raises it before the guitar arrives.

Is the free setup included?

Yes. A pre-order is an online order, so it gets the same free setup: it crosses Ian Vance's bench before it ships, set up the way you choose. The setup menu above shows what that covers.

Do I pay duty or brokerage on a US order?

No. Duty, taxes, brokerage and customs on a US order are handled at our end before the instrument leaves Ottawa. It arrives at your door with nothing to pay.

Orders going anywhere outside Canada and the United States work differently. The shipping and returns policy sets out which is which.

Can I finance it?

Yes, if you are in Canada and paying in full. Pick PayPlan by RBC or Shop Pay Installments as your payment method at checkout. The plan, the rate and the approval sit with the provider, and you see the terms before you agree to anything. You pay a deposit by card or PayPal.
