Who this one is for

The Cleaver is the Telecaster Deluxe that the Foo Fighters' Chris Shiflett plays on the band's biggest stages, until now offered only as a Custom Shop Masterbuilt piece. This American version keeps it simple and built for live work: an alder body with a belly cut for comfort, finished in gloss nitrocellulose lacquer with a matching painted headstock.

The pickups are two Custom Chris Shiflett "Cleaver" Noiseless CS-90 units, which give the thick midrange of a vintage single-coil without the hum. Each has its own volume and tone, with a 3-position toggle. The custom oval "C" neck carries a 12" radius slab rosewood board with white pearloid block inlays and medium jumbo frets, a flat radius that lets you set the action low and bend without notes choking. The bridge is a Pure Vintage strings-through hardtail with bent steel saddles, and there's no tremolo to knock it out of tune.

The Chris Shiflett Telecaster Deluxe is the humbucker version of the idea. For the original '70s Deluxe, compare the American Vintage II 1975 Telecaster Deluxe. Finishes are Charcoal Frost Metallic and Dakota Red, each with its own pickguard colour.

How much do I pay today?

Your choice: the full price, or a 25% deposit. On a deposit, the balance is due when the guitar reaches the shop, before it ships to you.

When will it arrive?

It varies by product, anywhere from two weeks up to several months. After you order, we check with the supplier and email you an ETA. If it changes, we let you know, and you can cancel.

Can I cancel?

Yes, any time before the supplier invoices it and ships it to us. We refund what you paid less 3% to cover the card processing fee.

Once it has shipped to us it is a special order and final sale. If it arrives with something wrong, we put that right.

What if the price goes up before it arrives?

You pay the price you ordered at. Once your order is placed we hold that price, even if the supplier raises it before the guitar arrives.

Is the free setup included?

Yes. A pre-order is an online order, so it gets the same free setup: it crosses Ian Vance's bench before it ships, set up the way you choose. The setup menu above shows what that covers.

Do I pay duty or brokerage on a US order?

No. Duty, taxes, brokerage and customs on a US order are handled at our end before the instrument leaves Ottawa. It arrives at your door with nothing to pay.

Orders going anywhere outside Canada and the United States work differently. The shipping and returns policy sets out which is which.

Can I finance it?

Yes, if you are in Canada and paying in full. Pick PayPlan by RBC or Shop Pay Installments as your payment method at checkout. The plan, the rate and the approval sit with the provider, and you see the terms before you agree to anything. You pay a deposit by card or PayPal.
