Our take

Who this one is for

Dave Murray has played lead with Iron Maiden for decades, and his Stratocaster is based on the California Series Strat he has long used on stage. It keeps the Strat body and look, in 2-Color Sunburst with a 4-ply white pearloid pickguard, and loads it with three Seymour Duncan humbuckers in single-coil size: a Hot Rails Strat at the bridge and neck and a JB Jr. in the middle.

A Floyd Rose FRT-O1000 Double Locking 2-Point Tremolo and Floyd Rose R3 locking nut lock the strings at both ends, so the bar can be used hard and the guitar returns to pitch. The rosewood fingerboard has a 9.5" to 14" compound radius, rounder at the nut for chords and flatter up high for fast lead work and wide bends, with 21 medium jumbo frets.

For the anniversary version of his guitar, compare the Limited Edition 50th Anniversary Dave Murray Stratocaster.

Questions we get

How much do I pay today?

Your choice: the full price, or a 25% deposit. On a deposit, the balance is due when the guitar reaches the shop, before it ships to you.

When will it arrive?

It varies by product, anywhere from two weeks up to several months. After you order, we check with the supplier and email you an ETA. If it changes, we let you know, and you can cancel.

Want an estimate for this model before you order? Ask us in the chat.

Can I cancel?

Yes, any time before the supplier invoices it and ships it to us. We refund what you paid less 3% to cover the card processing fee.

Once it has shipped to us it is a special order and final sale. If it arrives with something wrong, we put that right.

What if the price goes up before it arrives?

You pay the price you ordered at. Once your order is placed we hold that price, even if the supplier raises it before the guitar arrives.

Is the free setup included?

Yes. A pre-order is an online order, so it gets the same free setup: it crosses Ian Vance's bench before it ships, set up the way you choose. The setup menu above shows what that covers.

Do I pay duty or brokerage on a US order?

No. Duty, taxes, brokerage and customs on a US order are handled at our end before the instrument leaves Ottawa. It arrives at your door with nothing to pay.

Orders going anywhere outside Canada and the United States work differently. The shipping and returns policy sets out which is which.

Can I finance it?

Yes, if you are in Canada and paying in full. Pick PayPlan by RBC or Shop Pay Installments as your payment method at checkout. The plan, the rate and the approval sit with the provider, and you see the terms before you agree to anything. You pay a deposit by card or PayPal.
