Our take

Who this one is for

Jason Isbell's Telecaster takes the late '50s Custom layout, an alder body with cream binding on both the top and back edges, and finishes it in a Road Worn 3-Color Chocolate Burst that looks and feels like a guitar with years on it. The hardware is aged to match.

The neck is a mid '60s "C" on a 7.25" radius rosewood board with narrow tall frets. That rounder radius feels good for chords and the taller frets help with grip, though very wide bends high up can choke if the action is low. Two specially voiced Jason Isbell Tele single-coils sit in the usual three-way arrangement, and the bridge is a modified strings-through design with compensated brass barrel saddles, which helps the intonation on a three-saddle Tele.

It is made in Mexico and comes with a deluxe gig bag. For a USA-built early '60s Tele with a rosewood board, look at the American Vintage II 1963 Telecaster.

Questions we get

How much do I pay today?

Your choice: the full price, or a 25% deposit. On a deposit, the balance is due when the guitar reaches the shop, before it ships to you.

When will it arrive?

It varies by product, anywhere from two weeks up to several months. After you order, we check with the supplier and email you an ETA. If it changes, we let you know, and you can cancel.

Want an estimate for this model before you order? Ask us in the chat.

Can I cancel?

Yes, any time before the supplier invoices it and ships it to us. We refund what you paid less 3% to cover the card processing fee.

Once it has shipped to us it is a special order and final sale. If it arrives with something wrong, we put that right.

What if the price goes up before it arrives?

You pay the price you ordered at. Once your order is placed we hold that price, even if the supplier raises it before the guitar arrives.

Is the free setup included?

Yes. A pre-order is an online order, so it gets the same free setup: it crosses Ian Vance's bench before it ships, set up the way you choose. The setup menu above shows what that covers.

Do I pay duty or brokerage on a US order?

No. Duty, taxes, brokerage and customs on a US order are handled at our end before the instrument leaves Ottawa. It arrives at your door with nothing to pay.

Orders going anywhere outside Canada and the United States work differently. The shipping and returns policy sets out which is which.

Can I finance it?

Yes, if you are in Canada and paying in full. Pick PayPlan by RBC or Shop Pay Installments as your payment method at checkout. The plan, the rate and the approval sit with the provider, and you see the terms before you agree to anything. You pay a deposit by card or PayPal.
