Our take

Who this one is for

The John Osborne Telecaster is modelled closely on the country guitarist's own Tele, and the detail that sets it apart is the built-in B string bender. It raises the B string by up to a whole step, which is how you get pedal steel style chord moves and lead lines out of a six-string.

The neck is a 1968 C carve with a hand-rubbed oil finish and a maple cap fingerboard, 7.25" radius and jumbo frets. The vintage radius feels round under the hand and suits chord work, and the taller frets give you something to grab on bends. Custom-voiced John Osborne Telecaster pickups sit under black covers, with three compensated brass barrel saddles on a strings-through-body bridge and a custom black pickguard.

The alder body wears a Road Worn nitrocellulose lacquer finish in Olympic White, with a maple fingerboard, strap locks and a vintage-style hardshell case. It is right-handed only. For a Road Worn Tele without the bender, look at the Brad Paisley Road Worn Telecaster.

Questions we get

How much do I pay today?

Your choice: the full price, or a 25% deposit. On a deposit, the balance is due when the guitar reaches the shop, before it ships to you.

When will it arrive?

It varies by product, anywhere from two weeks up to several months. After you order, we check with the supplier and email you an ETA. If it changes, we let you know, and you can cancel.

Want an estimate for this model before you order? Ask us in the chat.

Can I cancel?

Yes, any time before the supplier invoices it and ships it to us. We refund what you paid less 3% to cover the card processing fee.

Once it has shipped to us it is a special order and final sale. If it arrives with something wrong, we put that right.

What if the price goes up before it arrives?

You pay the price you ordered at. Once your order is placed we hold that price, even if the supplier raises it before the guitar arrives.

Is the free setup included?

Yes. A pre-order is an online order, so it gets the same free setup: it crosses Ian Vance's bench before it ships, set up the way you choose. The setup menu above shows what that covers.

Do I pay duty or brokerage on a US order?

No. Duty, taxes, brokerage and customs on a US order are handled at our end before the instrument leaves Ottawa. It arrives at your door with nothing to pay.

Orders going anywhere outside Canada and the United States work differently. The shipping and returns policy sets out which is which.

Can I finance it?

Yes, if you are in Canada and paying in full. Pick PayPlan by RBC or Shop Pay Installments as your payment method at checkout. The plan, the rate and the approval sit with the provider, and you see the terms before you agree to anything. You pay a deposit by card or PayPal.
