Our take

Who this one is for

The Kenny Wayne Shepherd Stratocaster takes an early 60s idea and builds it his way. The body is chambered ash, so it carries less weight than solid ash, under a Transparent Faded Sonic Blue lacquer that lets the grain show through, with a matching painted headcap.

The early 60s C neck in quartersawn maple has a bound rosewood fingerboard with white pearloid block inlays, a 7.25" radius and 21 jumbo frets. The round radius feels vintage under the hand, and the jumbo frets give you more to grab on bends. Three custom-voiced Kenny Wayne Shepherd single-coils run through a master volume and two tones, with the second tone control on the bridge pickup alone, so you can take the edge off the bridge without touching the others. The vintage-style synchronized tremolo has Graph Tech saddles, and the nut is bone.

Made in the USA, rosewood board, right-handed, with a deluxe hardshell case. For a straight early 60s Strat without the chambering, binding and blocks, compare the American Vintage II 1961 Stratocaster.

Questions we get

How much do I pay today?

Your choice: the full price, or a 25% deposit. On a deposit, the balance is due when the guitar reaches the shop, before it ships to you.

When will it arrive?

It varies by product, anywhere from two weeks up to several months. After you order, we check with the supplier and email you an ETA. If it changes, we let you know, and you can cancel.

Want an estimate for this model before you order? Ask us in the chat.

Can I cancel?

Yes, any time before the supplier invoices it and ships it to us. We refund what you paid less 3% to cover the card processing fee.

Once it has shipped to us it is a special order and final sale. If it arrives with something wrong, we put that right.

What if the price goes up before it arrives?

You pay the price you ordered at. Once your order is placed we hold that price, even if the supplier raises it before the guitar arrives.

Is the free setup included?

Yes. A pre-order is an online order, so it gets the same free setup: it crosses Ian Vance's bench before it ships, set up the way you choose. The setup menu above shows what that covers.

Do I pay duty or brokerage on a US order?

No. Duty, taxes, brokerage and customs on a US order are handled at our end before the instrument leaves Ottawa. It arrives at your door with nothing to pay.

Orders going anywhere outside Canada and the United States work differently. The shipping and returns policy sets out which is which.

Can I finance it?

Yes, if you are in Canada and paying in full. Pick PayPlan by RBC or Shop Pay Installments as your payment method at checkout. The plan, the rate and the approval sit with the provider, and you see the terms before you agree to anything. You pay a deposit by card or PayPal.
