Richie Kotzen's Telecaster was a Japan-only model for years before it went worldwide, and it is still made in Japan. A contoured ash body under a bound flame maple top, gold hardware, and a pair of DiMarzios chosen for him: a Twang King in the neck and a Chopper T in the bridge.
The control layout is his own. There is a master volume, no tone knob, and a rotary switch that flips the pickups between series and parallel, so the middle position gives you either the familiar bright pairing or a thicker, louder series sound. The large "C" neck fills the hand, and the 12" radius with 22 jumbo frets makes for low action and clean bends high up the board.
For the same build ideas in a Stratocaster, look at the Richie Kotzen Stratocaster. This one comes in Brown Sunburst with a maple fingerboard and abalone dots.
