Our take

Who this one is for

Built on Ritchie Blackmore's favourite '70s Stratocaster, with the details he insisted on: a graduated scalloped rosewood fingerboard, two Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound Flat SSL-4 pickups, and a middle pickup that is there for looks only. It is not wired in, which leaves room for the picking hand and keeps the strings clear of its magnets.

The scalloping is graduated, shallow at the low frets and deeper up the neck. Your fingertip touches only the string, which makes vibrato and bends easier but rewards a light touch, since pressing hard pulls notes sharp. The board has a 7.25" radius and 21 vintage-style frets on a "U" shape neck with a bullet truss rod, a three-bolt "F"-stamped neck plate with Micro-Tilt, and "F" stamped tuners. Two tone controls split duties, one for the neck and one for the bridge pickup, through a 3-position blade.

For a scalloped board on a USA-made Stratocaster with three active pickups, look at the Yngwie Malmsteen Stratocaster. This one comes in Olympic White with a deluxe gig bag.

Questions we get

How much do I pay today?

Your choice: the full price, or a 25% deposit. On a deposit, the balance is due when the guitar reaches the shop, before it ships to you.

When will it arrive?

It varies by product, anywhere from two weeks up to several months. After you order, we check with the supplier and email you an ETA. If it changes, we let you know, and you can cancel.

Want an estimate for this model before you order? Ask us in the chat.

Can I cancel?

Yes, any time before the supplier invoices it and ships it to us. We refund what you paid less 3% to cover the card processing fee.

Once it has shipped to us it is a special order and final sale. If it arrives with something wrong, we put that right.

What if the price goes up before it arrives?

You pay the price you ordered at. Once your order is placed we hold that price, even if the supplier raises it before the guitar arrives.

Is the free setup included?

Yes. A pre-order is an online order, so it gets the same free setup: it crosses Ian Vance's bench before it ships, set up the way you choose. The setup menu above shows what that covers.

Do I pay duty or brokerage on a US order?

No. Duty, taxes, brokerage and customs on a US order are handled at our end before the instrument leaves Ottawa. It arrives at your door with nothing to pay.

Orders going anywhere outside Canada and the United States work differently. The shipping and returns policy sets out which is which.

Can I finance it?

Yes, if you are in Canada and paying in full. Pick PayPlan by RBC or Shop Pay Installments as your payment method at checkout. The plan, the rate and the approval sit with the provider, and you see the terms before you agree to anything. You pay a deposit by card or PayPal.
