Who this one is for

Modelled on "Number One," the battered Stratocaster Stevie Ray Vaughan played through his career, built new in the USA. The details are his: an engraved SRV pickguard, gold-plated hardware, a pau ferro fingerboard and a tremolo mounted in reverse, as on his original.

The neck is the big talking point. A thick "Oval" profile with a 12" radius and narrow tall frets, so there is plenty of wood in the hand and the flatter board lets you dig in on bends without notes choking. Three Custom Shop Texas Special single-coils sit on five-way switching, with the tone controls on the neck and middle pickups. It comes strung with .010s, in a vintage-style tweed case.

His brother's guitar, the Jimmie Vaughan Tex-Mex Strat, is the obvious companion, with a soft "V" maple neck and a hotter bridge pickup. The Kenny Wayne Shepherd Stratocaster is another blues player's Stratocaster worth comparing. The SRV comes in 3-Color Sunburst.

How much do I pay today?

Your choice: the full price, or a 25% deposit. On a deposit, the balance is due when the guitar reaches the shop, before it ships to you.

When will it arrive?

It varies by product, anywhere from two weeks up to several months. After you order, we check with the supplier and email you an ETA. If it changes, we let you know, and you can cancel.

Can I cancel?

Yes, any time before the supplier invoices it and ships it to us. We refund what you paid less 3% to cover the card processing fee.

Once it has shipped to us it is a special order and final sale. If it arrives with something wrong, we put that right.

What if the price goes up before it arrives?

You pay the price you ordered at. Once your order is placed we hold that price, even if the supplier raises it before the guitar arrives.

Is the free setup included?

Yes. A pre-order is an online order, so it gets the same free setup: it crosses Ian Vance's bench before it ships, set up the way you choose. The setup menu above shows what that covers.

Do I pay duty or brokerage on a US order?

No. Duty, taxes, brokerage and customs on a US order are handled at our end before the instrument leaves Ottawa. It arrives at your door with nothing to pay.

Orders going anywhere outside Canada and the United States work differently. The shipping and returns policy sets out which is which.

Can I finance it?

Yes, if you are in Canada and paying in full. Pick PayPlan by RBC or Shop Pay Installments as your payment method at checkout. The plan, the rate and the approval sit with the provider, and you see the terms before you agree to anything. You pay a deposit by card or PayPal.
