The BE-100 Deluxe is Friedman's 100-watt flagship: four EL34s, five 12AX7s and three channels, hand-wired in the USA. The BE and HBE drive channels each get their own gain and master and share one Bass, Middle and Treble, so the two flavours of Friedman's BE circuit sit a footswitch apart.
The third channel is a clean borrowed from the plexi channel of the Smallbox, with its own gain, volume, three-band EQ and fat switch, and its gain control takes it from clean into plexi grit. Behind that, the power section has its own set of tools: Presence, a Thump knob, a Frequency switch that moves where Thump works, and a Response switch that changes the negative feedback. C45, Saturation, Voice and Gain Structure switches shape the two drive channels.
The BE-50 Deluxe is the same idea at 50 watts with two EL34s, a clean channel modelled on the Buxom Betty instead of the Smallbox, and a switch down to 25 watts in triode. Take the 100 for the extra headroom and the Smallbox-style clean.
