The Dirty Shirley is Friedman's single-channel, 40-watt head for classic rock tone in the style of British amps from the 60s and 70s. It starts from a modified JTM 45, runs two 5881s and three 12AX7s, and gets its vintage crunch from Gain and Master with Bass, Middle, Treble and Presence. Back off the guitar's volume and it cleans up.
There are high and low sensitivity inputs, a series effects loop for time-based pedals and rack units, and Friedman built it to sit behind boosts, overdrives, wahs and modulation. Black Tolex over tongue and groove Baltic Birch, hand-wired in the USA, 30.5 lbs.
The Twin Sister Head is two of these channels side by side with global Presence and Deep controls, for players who want to switch rather than ride the volume knob. If one channel covers it, the Dirty Shirley is the simpler and lighter head. It also comes as the Dirty Shirley 1x12 Combo.
