The Martin 5-28 Terz answers long-standing player demand for the return of this uniquely voiced Size 5 model to the Martin lineup—now the smallest guitar we offer. With roots dating back to the earliest days of Martin, this ultra-compact 12-fret instrument features a short 21.38" scale length and is designed for Terz tuning—a minor third higher than standard—delivering a focused, bell-like voice that adds shimmer, clarity, and new sonic texture to any arrangement. Style 28 appointments—including a gloss spruce top with aging toner, solid East Indian rosewood back and sides, antique white binding, and mother-of-pearl fingerboard inlays—pair premium craftsmanship with distinctive tone. Despite its compact size, it offers surprising depth and can also be tuned to standard pitch for added versatility.

Ships worldwide from Ottawa, insured for its full value. Free shipping in Canada and the US on orders over $200, some exclusions apply. US orders arrive with no duty, tax or brokerage owed at the door.

Do I pay duty or brokerage on a US order?

No. Duty, taxes, brokerage and customs on a US order are handled at our end before the instrument leaves Ottawa. It arrives at your door with nothing to pay.

Orders going anywhere outside Canada and the United States work differently. The shipping and returns policy sets out which is which.

What does the free setup cover?

Every instrument crosses Ian Vance's bench before it ships, and on an online order that setup is free.

What it covers depends on what the guitar needs. Frets, fretboard, hardware, fresh strings, truss rod, action, nut slots, intonation, pickup height and electronics are all part of it, and none of it is an upcharge. The menu above shows the choices you get to make.

What if it is not right when it arrives?

You have 48 hours from the moment it arrives to decide. Email shop@lauzonmusic.com inside that window and we will authorize the return. Nothing comes back unauthorized.

Exchange it for something else and there is no restocking fee, though you cover the shipping on the instrument going back. On a straight refund it is 10% plus the actual shipping both ways.
