Our take

Who this one is for

The D-18 Authentic 1937 VTS Aged is the hide-glue D-18 Authentic 1937 with its Vintage Gloss worn in by hand. The aging covers the top, back, sides, neck, headplate, bridge, pins, pickguard and the Waverly nickel open-back tuners, and the top carries a Vintage Toner.

Underneath the wear it is the same Golden Era recipe: Adirondack spruce with VTS for the top and the scalloped Authentic 1937 Forward-Shifted X-Brace, genuine mahogany for the back, sides and neck. The Authentic 1937 neck has the Standard Taper and a 1 3/4" nut, opening to 2 1/4" at the 12th fret, and the Authentic Belly bridge spaces the strings 2 1/4" apart for a little more room under the picking hand. The headplate is Madagascar rosewood with an Authentic Style CFM Script Overlay.

The D-18 Authentic 1937 is the same guitar with a clear top and an unworn finish, so the choice between them is about how you want it to look. For Guatemalan rosewood with the same treatment, see the D-28 Authentic 1937 VTS Aged.

Questions we get

How much do I pay today?

Your choice: the full price, or a 25% deposit. On a deposit, the balance is due when the guitar reaches the shop, before it ships to you. A deposit is paid by card or PayPal. Shop Pay, Apple Pay and Google Pay can't take one.

When will it arrive?

It varies by product, anywhere from two weeks up to several months. If you'd like a date for this model first, ask us in the chat and we'll check with the supplier before you order. If you're ready now, go ahead: we confirm the ETA by email once your order is in, and if it changes, we let you know and you can cancel.

Can I cancel?

Yes, any time before the supplier invoices it and ships it to us. We refund what you paid less 3% to cover the card processing fee.

Once it has shipped to us it is a special order and final sale. If it arrives with something wrong, we put that right.

What if the price goes up before it arrives?

You pay the price you ordered at. Once your order is placed we hold that price, even if the supplier raises it before the guitar arrives.

Is the free setup included?

Yes. A pre-order is an online order, so it gets the same free setup: it crosses our bench before it ships, set up the way you choose. The setup menu above shows what that covers.

Do I pay duty or brokerage on a US order?

No. Duty, taxes, brokerage and customs on a US order are handled at our end before the instrument leaves Ottawa. It arrives at your door with nothing to pay.

Orders going anywhere outside Canada and the United States work differently. The shipping and returns policy sets out which is which.

Can I finance it?

Yes, if you are in Canada and paying in full. Pick PayPlan by RBC or Shop Pay Installments as your payment method at checkout. The plan, the rate and the approval sit with the provider, and you see the terms before you agree to anything. You pay a deposit by card or PayPal.
