Who this one is for

The D-41 takes the East Indian rosewood Dreadnought and adds a ring of abalone around the top edge, an abalone rosette and Reduced Hexagon abalone inlays on a bound ebony board. Underneath sit Golden Era Scalloped 5/16" braces in the Forward-Shifted X Brace pattern, and the genuine mahogany neck is the Golden Era (GE) Modified Low Oval with the High-Performance Taper, in satin. Gold open-gear tuners with butterbean knobs and a diamond on the headstock complete it.

This is the dressed-up rosewood Dreadnought, short of the full abalone treatment. For the same woods and bracing with plainer trim, look at the D-28. The D-42 moves to snowflake inlays and a gloss neck, and the D-45 carries abalone onto the back and sides.

All three finishes are gloss. The standard top has an Aging Toner, the 1933 Ambertone takes it to a warmer amber, and the 1935 Sunburst darkens the edges. Against the abalone border we would choose the Ambertone, where the shell reads clearly against an older-looking top.

Questions we get

How much do I pay today?

Your choice: the full price, or a 25% deposit. On a deposit, the balance is due when the guitar reaches the shop, before it ships to you. A deposit is paid by card or PayPal. Shop Pay, Apple Pay and Google Pay can't take one.

When will it arrive?

It varies by product, anywhere from two weeks up to several months. If you'd like a date for this model first, ask us in the chat and we'll check with the supplier before you order. If you're ready now, go ahead: we confirm the ETA by email once your order is in, and if it changes, we let you know and you can cancel.

Can I cancel?

Yes, any time before the supplier invoices it and ships it to us. We refund what you paid less 3% to cover the card processing fee.

Once it has shipped to us it is a special order and final sale. If it arrives with something wrong, we put that right.

What if the price goes up before it arrives?

You pay the price you ordered at. Once your order is placed we hold that price, even if the supplier raises it before the guitar arrives.

Is the free setup included?

Yes. A pre-order is an online order, so it gets the same free setup: it crosses our bench before it ships, set up the way you choose. The setup menu above shows what that covers.

Do I pay duty or brokerage on a US order?

No. Duty, taxes, brokerage and customs on a US order are handled at our end before the instrument leaves Ottawa. It arrives at your door with nothing to pay.

Orders going anywhere outside Canada and the United States work differently. The shipping and returns policy sets out which is which.

Can I finance it?

Yes, if you are in Canada and paying in full. Pick PayPlan by RBC or Shop Pay Installments as your payment method at checkout. The plan, the rate and the approval sit with the provider, and you see the terms before you agree to anything. You pay a deposit by card or PayPal.
