The HDRX 20 brings PRS's late-60s British-inspired HDRX design down to 20 watts. It follows PRS's "Authentic Hendrix" Touring Circuit, drawn from one of Hendrix's personal amps (said to have been used at Woodstock) that Paul Reed Smith and amp designer Doug Sewell studied in 2018. Power comes from two 5881s, with three 12AX7s in the preamp.
The two channels are bridged inside the amp, so instead of a jumper cable you blend the Bass Volume and Treble Volume to set gain and tone. A shared 3-band EQ, high-mid gain switch, two-way bright switch and presence follow the historic layout. The HDRX 20 is also the first HDRX with a Master Volume, which sets power amp level without an attenuator.
The HDRX 1x12 Cabinet suits it at 16 ohms. For vintage-style volume with no master, the HDRX 50 Head and HDRX 100 Head are the US-built siblings.
