The HDRX 50 is a 50-watt, late-60s British-inspired head built at PRS's Stevensville, Maryland factory. It carries on from PRS's HXDA amps with the "Authentic Hendrix" Touring Circuit, based on a Hendrix amp PRS studied in 2018 that is said to have been used at Woodstock.
Two EL34s drive a custom Straight Edge 50-watt output transformer. PRS designed the power supply to mimic the 100-watt amp's, and says that puts the HDRX 50 closer to the HDRX 100 in output and character than a typical 50. The channels are bridged internally and blended with the Bass and Treble Volume controls, with a three-way bright switch, high-mid gain switch and presence alongside the shared EQ.
There is no master volume, in keeping with the original, and PRS recommends running it with an attenuator. Pair it with the HDRX 2x12 Cabinet, one of the two Creamback-loaded cabs PRS designed for these heads.
