The Academy 10e is a non-cutaway Dreadnought built for comfort: a bevelled walnut armrest on the lower bout, a 24-7/8" scale that is shorter than the 25-1/2" of the 110ce, and a 1-11/16" nut that makes chords a little easier to hold. The top is torrefied spruce on X bracing over layered walnut back and sides, with a Baltic birch marquetry rosette, and the ES-B pickup has a digital tuner built in.
Taylor designed it with newer players in mind, and the armrest and shorter scale help anyone who finds a full dreadnought a reach. For a Dreadnought with a cutaway and the full scale, look at the 110ce; the Academy 12e is the Grand Concert.
