Our take

Who this one is for

The Gold Label 514e puts mahogany into the Super Auditorium, Taylor's newer shape drawn from its Grand Auditorium with a slightly longer body and a wider lower bout. Neo-Tropical Mahogany back and sides sit under a torrefied Sitka spruce top with fanned V-Class bracing. Taylor's target is an older acoustic sound, warm and woody through the mids, with the fundamental leading and the overtones held back.

The long-tenon Action Control Neck pairs the joint with an adjustment system for fast, accurate changes to string height. Electronics are an LR Baggs Element VTC. Cream binding, a matching rosette, Crest inlays on Crelicam ebony, nickel tuners and a Honduran rosewood bridge finish the trim, under gloss.

There are four finishes. The Natural shows the roasted top in its own colour, the two Sunbursts differ only in the pickguard (firestripe or cream), and the Blacktop comes with the cream guard. In the same body, the Gold Label 714e moves to Indian rosewood, the 814e to Honduran rosewood and the K14e to Hawaiian koa.

Questions we get

How much do I pay today?

Your choice: the full price, or a 25% deposit. On a deposit, the balance is due when the guitar reaches the shop, before it ships to you. A deposit is paid by card or PayPal. Shop Pay, Apple Pay and Google Pay can't take one.

When will it arrive?

It varies by product, anywhere from two weeks up to several months. If you'd like a date for this model first, ask us in the chat and we'll check with the supplier before you order. If you're ready now, go ahead: we confirm the ETA by email once your order is in, and if it changes, we let you know and you can cancel.

Can I cancel?

Yes, any time before the supplier invoices it and ships it to us. We refund what you paid less 3% to cover the card processing fee.

Once it has shipped to us it is a special order and final sale. If it arrives with something wrong, we put that right.

What if the price goes up before it arrives?

You pay the price you ordered at. Once your order is placed we hold that price, even if the supplier raises it before the guitar arrives.

Is the free setup included?

Yes. A pre-order is an online order, so it gets the same free setup: it crosses our bench before it ships, set up the way you choose. The setup menu above shows what that covers.

Do I pay duty or brokerage on a US order?

No. Duty, taxes, brokerage and customs on a US order are handled at our end before the instrument leaves Ottawa. It arrives at your door with nothing to pay.

Orders going anywhere outside Canada and the United States work differently. The shipping and returns policy sets out which is which.

Can I finance it?

Yes, if you are in Canada and paying in full. Pick PayPlan by RBC or Shop Pay Installments as your payment method at checkout. The plan, the rate and the approval sit with the provider, and you see the terms before you agree to anything. You pay a deposit by card or PayPal.
