The Gold Label 712e is a Grand Concert with Indian rosewood back and sides and a torrefied Sitka spruce top, built slightly deeper than Taylor's standard version and braced with fanned V-Class. Taylor describes a voice that suits more than one style: clear, bright trebles for fingerstyle, and a strong low end with blooming harmonics for strumming and flatpicking.
The 24-7/8" scale is shorter than the collection's usual 25-1/2", so it frets easily, and the slender long-tenon Action Control Neck adjusts for string height at the soundhole. Electronics are an LR Baggs Element VTC. Cream binding, a black-trimmed cream rosette, Crest inlays, a firestripe pickguard and a Honduran rosewood Curve Wing bridge with matching pins sit under a natural gloss finish.
It is the rosewood partner to the Gold Label 512e, which uses mahogany in the same body. For Indian rosewood with a larger body and the longer scale, look at the Gold Label 714e or 717e.
