Our take

Who this one is for

The Gold Label 714e puts Indian rosewood back and sides and a torrefied Sitka spruce top into the Super Auditorium, Taylor's shape with a slightly longer body and a wider lower bout than its Grand Auditorium. Taylor describes a deep, open voice with warm lows, round trebles and full overtones, with some played-in sweetness from the roasted top. Fanned V-Class bracing adds volume and sustain.

The long-tenon Action Control Neck keeps a slim profile and adjusts through the soundhole. Two details belong only to the Gold Label Collection: the pickguard shape and the modified headstock with its angled back cut and script logo. Cream binding, a matching rosette, Crest inlays on Crelicam ebony and a Honduran rosewood Curve Wing bridge with Indian rosewood pins complete it, with an LR Baggs Element VTC inside.

Four finishes are offered: Natural, Sunburst with a firestripe or a cream pickguard, and Blacktop with cream. Our pick is the Natural, the one that leaves the roasted top's colour on show. In this body, the Gold Label 514e is the mahogany version and the 814e the Honduran rosewood one.

Questions we get

How much do I pay today?

Your choice: the full price, or a 25% deposit. On a deposit, the balance is due when the guitar reaches the shop, before it ships to you. A deposit is paid by card or PayPal. Shop Pay, Apple Pay and Google Pay can't take one.

When will it arrive?

It varies by product, anywhere from two weeks up to several months. If you'd like a date for this model first, ask us in the chat and we'll check with the supplier before you order. If you're ready now, go ahead: we confirm the ETA by email once your order is in, and if it changes, we let you know and you can cancel.

Can I cancel?

Yes, any time before the supplier invoices it and ships it to us. We refund what you paid less 3% to cover the card processing fee.

Once it has shipped to us it is a special order and final sale. If it arrives with something wrong, we put that right.

What if the price goes up before it arrives?

You pay the price you ordered at. Once your order is placed we hold that price, even if the supplier raises it before the guitar arrives.

Is the free setup included?

Yes. A pre-order is an online order, so it gets the same free setup: it crosses our bench before it ships, set up the way you choose. The setup menu above shows what that covers.

Do I pay duty or brokerage on a US order?

No. Duty, taxes, brokerage and customs on a US order are handled at our end before the instrument leaves Ottawa. It arrives at your door with nothing to pay.

Orders going anywhere outside Canada and the United States work differently. The shipping and returns policy sets out which is which.

Can I finance it?

Yes, if you are in Canada and paying in full. Pick PayPlan by RBC or Shop Pay Installments as your payment method at checkout. The plan, the rate and the approval sit with the provider, and you see the terms before you agree to anything. You pay a deposit by card or PayPal.
