The Jacob Collier Academy 22e 5-String is a five-string Grand Concert tuned DAEAD, with a solid walnut top over layered walnut back and sides and a walnut bevel armrest along the edge under your strumming arm. Fishman Presys VT electronics, a 24-7/8" scale, a smoked eucalyptus fretboard and bridge, and a Baltic birch marquetry rosette. Taylor describes the walnut as warm through the mids with clear highs and a full low end, voiced to suit the chords the tuning makes possible.
Of the three Collier models, this is the one with electronics. The Jacob Collier GS Mini 5-String is smaller and acoustic, and the Jacob Collier Signature Model 5-String is the US-built version in solid Hawaiian koa with V-Class bracing. The six-string Academy 22e shares the walnut top and armrest.
