Our take

Who this one is for

The Legacy 815e is a non-cutaway Jumbo drawn from Bob Taylor's early designs, with Indian rosewood back and sides, a Sitka spruce top and traditional X-bracing. The big body gives it a commanding voice, and Taylor describes clear trebles, deep lows and a slightly scooped midrange, with overtones that open up as notes ring.

Older details carry over, including an ebony mustache bridge and a straight-ear peghead with a rosewood veneer. The neck is Taylor's modern profile, comfortable in the hand and easy to fret, and the body and neck are both finished in gloss.

White binding, a three-ring green abalone rosette, Large Diamond inlays in mother-of-pearl, a tortoise pickguard and abalone-dotted ebony bridge pins follow Bob's original builds. An LR Baggs Element VTC undersaddle pickup has its volume and tone just inside the soundhole, it's strung with mediums (.013 to .056), and there's a Legacy label inside.

For the same woods in a Dreadnought, look at the Legacy 810e. The Legacy 855e puts this Jumbo body into a twelve-string.

Questions we get

How much do I pay today?

Your choice: the full price, or a 25% deposit. On a deposit, the balance is due when the guitar reaches the shop, before it ships to you. A deposit is paid by card or PayPal. Shop Pay, Apple Pay and Google Pay can't take one.

When will it arrive?

It varies by product, anywhere from two weeks up to several months. If you'd like a date for this model first, ask us in the chat and we'll check with the supplier before you order. If you're ready now, go ahead: we confirm the ETA by email once your order is in, and if it changes, we let you know and you can cancel.

Can I cancel?

Yes, any time before the supplier invoices it and ships it to us. We refund what you paid less 3% to cover the card processing fee.

Once it has shipped to us it is a special order and final sale. If it arrives with something wrong, we put that right.

What if the price goes up before it arrives?

You pay the price you ordered at. Once your order is placed we hold that price, even if the supplier raises it before the guitar arrives.

Is the free setup included?

Yes. A pre-order is an online order, so it gets the same free setup: it crosses our bench before it ships, set up the way you choose. The setup menu above shows what that covers.

Do I pay duty or brokerage on a US order?

No. Duty, taxes, brokerage and customs on a US order are handled at our end before the instrument leaves Ottawa. It arrives at your door with nothing to pay.

Orders going anywhere outside Canada and the United States work differently. The shipping and returns policy sets out which is which.

Can I finance it?

Yes, if you are in Canada and paying in full. Pick PayPlan by RBC or Shop Pay Installments as your payment method at checkout. The plan, the rate and the approval sit with the provider, and you see the terms before you agree to anything. You pay a deposit by card or PayPal.
