Our take

Who this one is for

The GR-HG-64T is a 12-fret Parlor from Boucher's Grande Reserve series: 3A torrefied flamed maple back and sides, a Gold Touch top of torrefied AAAA Adirondack red spruce, gold Gotoh open gear tuners and a slotted headstock. Boucher counts the Grande Reserve as a milestone for the workshop. The figure of the maple varies from one guitar to the next, so treat the photos as one example.

A parlor sits small on the lap, and with the neck meeting the body at the 12th fret, the bridge moves nearer the centre of the lower bout. It suits a player who likes a small body close at hand. For the same Parlor in 5A maple, look at the GR-HG-164T, and for this 3A build on a 000 body, the GR-HG-66T.

Boucher offers option packs for burst finishes, installed pickups, a master grade top and abalone trim, and the full list follows below.

Options for this model include:

Burst Pack: a hand-applied sunburst, tobacco burst, open amber burst or black top
Concert Pack: Fishman Matrix Infinity pickup, installed
Intimate Concert Pack: K&K Pure Mini pickup, installed
Master Grade Pack: master grade Adirondack red spruce top, abalone rosette, koa or maple body binding (not with the Ultimate Pack)
Prestige Pack: Style-41 abalone trim
Ultimate Pack: master grade Adirondack red spruce top, a choice of exotic or highly figured back and sides (bubinga, cocobolo, maple, koa, Madagascar rosewood or walnut), koa or maple neck and body binding, high gloss neck, a choice of fretboard inlays, Gotoh 510 open gear tuners (not with the Master Grade Pack)

Questions we get

How much do I pay today?

Your choice: the full price, or a 25% deposit. On a deposit, the balance is due when the guitar reaches the shop, before it ships to you. A deposit is paid by card or PayPal. Shop Pay, Apple Pay and Google Pay can't take one.

When will it arrive?

It varies by product, anywhere from two weeks up to several months. If you'd like a date for this model first, ask us in the chat and we'll check with the supplier before you order. If you're ready now, go ahead: we confirm the ETA by email once your order is in, and if it changes, we let you know and you can cancel.

Can I cancel?

Yes, any time before the supplier invoices it and ships it to us. We refund what you paid less 3% to cover the card processing fee.

Once it has shipped to us it is a special order and final sale. If it arrives with something wrong, we put that right.

What if the price goes up before it arrives?

You pay the price you ordered at. Once your order is placed we hold that price, even if the supplier raises it before the guitar arrives.

Is the free setup included?

Yes. A pre-order is an online order, so it gets the same free setup: it crosses our bench before it ships, set up the way you choose. The setup menu above shows what that covers.

Do I pay duty or brokerage on a US order?

No. Duty, taxes, brokerage and customs on a US order are handled at our end before the instrument leaves Ottawa. It arrives at your door with nothing to pay.

Orders going anywhere outside Canada and the United States work differently. The shipping and returns policy sets out which is which.

Can I finance it?

Yes, if you are in Canada and paying in full. Pick PayPlan by RBC or Shop Pay Installments as your payment method at checkout. The plan, the rate and the approval sit with the provider, and you see the terms before you agree to anything. You pay a deposit by card or PayPal.
