The SM-JP-56 is a 000 with the neck joining at the 12th fret, East Indian Rosewood back and sides and a torrefied AAAA Adirondack red spruce top, which Boucher calls Gold Touch. Boucher roasts the spruce to age it, a process it developed with Université Laval and first offered in 2010. What sets it apart is the Venetian cutaway, designed with JP Cormier, which opens up the frets past the 12th.
With 12 frets to the body, the bridge sits nearer the centre of the lower bout. The nut is 1.750", with 2.250" at the 12th fret, or a narrower 2.125" as an option. Trim is an abalone rosette, koa binding and a B inlaid at the 12th fret, with Gotoh tuners on Boucher's slotted headstock, and an interior label signed by JP Cormier. It comes with or without a pickguard.
For the same 12-fret 000 in East Indian Rosewood without the cutaway, look at the Heritage Goose HG-56. Like every Boucher, the SM-JP-56 can be built left-handed.
