The 001 14-Fret T is the Traditional Series build of Collings' 14-fret 00, in Honduran mahogany with a Sitka spruce top. Collings takes a vintage approach with its T guitars: a custom pre-war scalloped X-brace with an abbreviated soundboard graft at the tongue brace, and an ultra-thin nitrocellulose lacquer over a lightweight build. Collings says the result has a strong fundamental, dry articulation and warmer highs, with the thin finish adding responsiveness.
The neck is Collings' Traditional profile with a 1 3/4" bone nut, wider than on the 001 14-Fret, and the belly bridge spaces the strings at 2 5/16" over a cutthrough saddle. Both give a fingerpicker more room. The trim moves to custom wood purflings and a wood rosette, with gold pearl short dots and tortoise-style pins.
The 001 14-Fret is the standard-voiced version, and the 002H 14-Fret T is this Traditional build in rosewood. Collings offers other tops, finishes, trim, inlays and more, set out below.
