The 002H is the 12-fret 00 in East Indian rosewood with a Sitka spruce top and Collings' herringbone trim. Collings dates the shape to around the Civil War and compares its size to a classical guitar: 14 1/4" wide, with a slotted peghead in stained exotic ebony and a small pyramid bridge.
Ivoroid binding with herringbone purfling, a zipper backstrip, an ivoroid and tortoise rosette and abalone short diamonds and squares make up the 2H dress. The 24 7/8" scale lowers string tension, the 1 13/16" nut gives the fingers space, and the 12-fret joint brings the bridge toward the centre of the lower bout. Collings calls the voice balanced and precise.
