The 01 12-Fret is Collings' single 0 with the neck joining at the 12th fret, in Honduran mahogany under Sitka spruce. Next to the 14-fret 01 the body is longer with softer contours, and Collings says it has a balanced, full tone with a little more bass and volume.
The 24 7/8" scale lowers string tension, the 1 13/16" bone nut gives fingerpicking room, and the pyramid bridge spreads the strings to 2 5/16" and sits nearer the centre of the lower bout. Collings rates it for fingerstyle and strumming and as a recording guitar, small enough to travel with. A slotted peghead, tortoise binding, a walnut backstrip, pearl short dots and nickel Waverly tuners finish it.
The 01 12-Fret T is the Traditional Series build, and the 02H 12-Fret puts rosewood on this body. Collings' options for tops, finishes, trim, inlays and more are listed below.
