The 03 12-Fret pairs the 12-fret 0 body with Collings' 3-style trim: East Indian rosewood under a Sitka spruce top, ivoroid binding with b/w/b/w/b purfling on the body, and ivoroid binding carried onto the ebony board and the slotted peghead. An abalone rosette, an uninlaid fingerboard, abalone-dot bridge pins and gold Waverly tuners finish it.
The 12-fret neck joint and longer body put the pyramid bridge nearer the centre of the lower bout, and Collings credits this body with a fuller, more balanced voice than the 14-fret 0. The modified V neck has a 1 13/16" bone nut, and the strings sit 2 5/16" apart at the bridge, giving the picking hand room.
