The Baby 2H is the smallest Collings body in East Indian rosewood with a Sitka spruce top: about three-quarter scale of their OM, 12 1/2" wide, with the headstock and bridge sized down to suit. Collings says it doesn't reach the deep bass of the larger guitars, and that its voice stays balanced with enough volume for most playing.
A 24 1/8" scale keeps string tension low, and the modified V neck has a 1 11/16" bone nut. The 2H trim is ivoroid binding with herringbone purfling, abalone diamonds and squares on ebony, an ivoroid and tortoise rosette and a zipper backstrip, finished in high gloss nitrocellulose lacquer.
Collings sees the Baby used for travel and as a songwriter's guitar kept close at hand. For mahogany on the same body, look at the Baby 1, and for the larger 0 body in the same trim, the 02H. Collings' options for tops, finishes, trim and inlays follow below.
