The CJ-45 T is the Traditional Series version of Collings' slope-shouldered jumbo, a Sitka spruce top over Honduran mahogany on the CJ's 16" wide body. Collings rebuilt the body construction for it from the ground up, with new bracing carves and a CJ-45 Wartime scalloped X-brace, and paired it with its T-Series neck in a CJ-45 carve. Collings sets its voice apart from the other CJ models, describing it as dry and strongly fundamental, with the low-end growl of Wartime-era slope-shoulders.
The playing side differs from the standard CJ too. The 24 7/8" scale lowers string tension, and the 1 3/4" bone nut with 2 5/16" spacing at the bridge leaves more room for fingerpicking. The board is Indian rosewood with 19 frets, a 12" radius and long dots.
Trim stays spare: ivoroid binding without purfling, a single-ring rosette and Waverly tuners with ivoroid buttons. For the standard CJ build in mahogany, look at the CJ Mh. Collings' options for tops, finishes, trim and more are listed below.
