The D1 A HC is the mahogany dreadnought in Collings' Hill Country Series: an Adirondack spruce top over Honduran mahogany, with the series' own scalloped X-brace and an abbreviated tongue brace. Collings voices Hill Country guitars toward a strong fundamental, warm and dry with a full low end, a sound bluegrass players will know, with the response to work in other styles.
The pickguard is hand-poured tortoise, matched by the rosette ring, wedge and heel cap, and the logo is stamped on the back of the square peghead with nothing on the front. Body and neck are finished in ultra-thin nitrocellulose. The board is ebony-bound with gold mother-of-pearl dots, and the Hill Country neck comes in a large or small option over a 1 3/4" aged bone nut and 2 5/16" spacing at the bridge.
