The D2H is Collings' square-shouldered 14-fret dreadnought in East Indian rosewood with a Sitka spruce top and herringbone purfling inside ivoroid binding. Collings sets out to give the big dreadnought body clarity alongside its depth and warmth, and says its dreadnoughts serve both singers, for the bass, and flatpickers who need to be heard over banjo and fiddle.
The fingerboard is ebony with abalone long diamond and square inlays, and the square peghead carries a volute and a stained exotic ebony veneer. An ivoroid and tortoise rosette and a zipper backstrip complete the trim. The Modified V neck has a 1 11/16" bone nut, a 25 1/2" scale and a 14" to 26" compound radius, over a pre-war scalloped X-brace.
For the Traditional Series rosewood build, look at the D2H T. The D3 is the same body with ivoroid-bound board and peghead and an abalone rosette, and the D1 is the mahogany version. Collings' options for tops, finishes and trim are listed below.
