The DS2 A HC puts the Hill Country build on Collings' 12-fret slope shoulder dreadnought in East Indian rosewood, under an Adirondack spruce top with Hill Country scalloped X-bracing. Ivoroid binds the body, the ebony board carries gold mother-of-pearl long diamonds and squares. Like every Hill Country model it wears a hand-poured tortoise pickguard with matching rosette ring, wedge and heel cap, and a rosewood peghead veneer with the logo stamped on the back only.
The 12-fret neck joint moves the bridge toward the centre of the lower bout. Collings voices the Hill Country guitars warm and woody, with a dry character and a full bottom end it pitches at bluegrass players first.
