The OM1 JL is Collings' Julian Lage signature model, built on the Traditional Series OM1 T with a Sitka spruce top over Honduran mahogany back and sides and a Honduran mahogany neck. Its custom JL carve comes from a hand-shaped 1939 neck that Collings measured and digitized, worn-in asymmetry included. The nut is 1 11/16" on a 25 1/2" scale.
The body and neck wear a custom satin nitrocellulose lacquer, which Collings chose to go on thin with a mellowed, vintage look. The peghead carries a gold mother-of-pearl Collings script logo, the inlay Bill Collings cut by hand when he started out in Austin. The guitar came out of conversations between Bill Collings and Lage that began in 2014 and ran until Bill's passing in July 2017.
