The OM2 A HC is the rosewood Orchestra Model in Collings' Hill Country Series. An Adirondack spruce top sits over East Indian rosewood back and sides with a Honduran mahogany neck, built to the Hill Country spec: scalloped X-bracing with an abbreviated tongue brace, ultra-thin high gloss nitrocellulose lacquer on body and neck, and a hand-poured tortoise pickguard with matching rosette ring. Ivoroid body binding, an ebony-bound board with gold mother-of-pearl short diamonds and squares, and a zipper backstrip set the trim. The rosewood peghead veneer is plain on the front, with the Collings logo stamped on the back.
Collings describes the Hill Country sound as dry and warm, with a strong fundamental and a full low end. The 1 3/4" aged bone nut and 2 5/16" bridge spacing give fingerpicking room. For mahogany on the same build, look at the OM1 A HC, and for rosewood with herringbone purfling and the standard Collings voicing, the OM2H.
