Our take

Who this one is for

The SoCo Deluxe is Collings' top configuration of the SoCo, and the one built in solid wood: a hand-carved premium flamed maple top over a Honduran mahogany body, semi-hollow around a maple centre block that helps it resist feedback. Grained ivoroid binds the body, fingerboard and peghead, with matching ivoroid knobs, pickup rings and truss rod cover, and it runs without a pickguard so the flame stays in view.

The 15" lower bout keeps it light and balanced, and Collings credits the carved top with an articulate voice. A pair of Lollar Low Wind Imperial humbuckers with 50s-style wiring sits over a Kluson ABR-1 and stop tailpiece. The mahogany neck joins on a long mortise and tenon with a heel shaped for reaching the upper frets, on a 24 7/8" scale.

The SoCo LC Deluxe carries the same trim on laminate maple, and the SoCo LC is the laminate build in its standard dress. It can be built up with Collings' options for tops, finishes, trim and inlays, listed below.

Questions we get

How much do I pay today?

Your choice: the full price, or a 25% deposit. On a deposit, the balance is due when the guitar reaches the shop, before it ships to you. A deposit is paid by card or PayPal. Shop Pay, Apple Pay and Google Pay can't take one.

When will it arrive?

It varies by product, anywhere from two weeks up to several months. If you'd like a date for this model first, ask us in the chat and we'll check with the supplier before you order. If you're ready now, go ahead: we confirm the ETA by email once your order is in, and if it changes, we let you know and you can cancel.

Can I cancel?

Yes, any time before the supplier invoices it and ships it to us. We refund what you paid less 3% to cover the card processing fee.

Once it has shipped to us it is a special order and final sale. If it arrives with something wrong, we put that right.

What if the price goes up before it arrives?

You pay the price you ordered at. Once your order is placed we hold that price, even if the supplier raises it before the guitar arrives.

Is the free setup included?

Yes. A pre-order is an online order, so it gets the same free setup: it crosses our bench before it ships, set up the way you choose. The setup menu above shows what that covers.

Do I pay duty or brokerage on a US order?

No. Duty, taxes, brokerage and customs on a US order are handled at our end before the instrument leaves Ottawa. It arrives at your door with nothing to pay.

Orders going anywhere outside Canada and the United States work differently. The shipping and returns policy sets out which is which.

Can I finance it?

Yes, if you are in Canada and paying in full. Pick PayPlan by RBC or Shop Pay Installments as your payment method at checkout. The plan, the rate and the approval sit with the provider, and you see the terms before you agree to anything. You pay a deposit by card or PayPal.
