Our take

Who this one is for

The 1972 Telecaster Thinline is the second version of the semi-hollow Tele, the first six-string in the line with humbuckers and the first Tele with six adjustable saddles. This one is built around Authentic CuNiFe Wide-Range Humbucking pickups, made with the same copper, nickel and iron magnet alloy as the originals, mounted to the curvy 4-ply aged white pearloid pickguard.

The ash body is semi-hollow, which takes weight out of what would be a heavy ash body, finished in gloss polyurethane as in the '70s. The one-piece maple 1972 "C" neck has a 7.25" radius and vintage tall frets, and the three-bolt neck plate has a Micro-Tilt adjustment for setting neck angle without shims. A bullet truss rod nut sits at the headstock end, and the 6-saddle string-through hardtail has bent steel saddles.

The 1975 Telecaster Deluxe and 1977 Telecaster Custom use the same Wide-Range pickups on solid bodies. Offered in Candy Apple Red, 3-Color Sunburst, Aged Natural and Lake Placid Blue.

Questions we get

How much do I pay today?

Your choice: the full price, or a 25% deposit. On a deposit, the balance is due when the guitar reaches the shop, before it ships to you.

When will it arrive?

It varies by product, anywhere from two weeks up to several months. After you order, we check with the supplier and email you an ETA. If it changes, we let you know, and you can cancel.

Want an estimate for this model before you order? Ask us in the chat.

Can I cancel?

Yes, any time before the supplier invoices it and ships it to us. We refund what you paid less 3% to cover the card processing fee.

Once it has shipped to us it is a special order and final sale. If it arrives with something wrong, we put that right.

What if the price goes up before it arrives?

You pay the price you ordered at. Once your order is placed we hold that price, even if the supplier raises it before the guitar arrives.

Is the free setup included?

Yes. A pre-order is an online order, so it gets the same free setup: it crosses Ian Vance's bench before it ships, set up the way you choose. The setup menu above shows what that covers.

Do I pay duty or brokerage on a US order?

No. Duty, taxes, brokerage and customs on a US order are handled at our end before the instrument leaves Ottawa. It arrives at your door with nothing to pay.

Orders going anywhere outside Canada and the United States work differently. The shipping and returns policy sets out which is which.

Can I finance it?

Yes, if you are in Canada and paying in full. Pick PayPlan by RBC or Shop Pay Installments as your payment method at checkout. The plan, the rate and the approval sit with the provider, and you see the terms before you agree to anything. You pay a deposit by card or PayPal.
